Hardware | Ambient Weather WS-1550 |
WeeWX version | 4.6.2 |
Belchertown skin version | 1.2 |
This website is automatically updated in real time (about every 15 seconds) with weather observations from an Ambient Weather WS-1550 personal weather station and an Ambient Weather WH31L lightning detector located near Wilder Creek, less than 1 mile northeast of Perry, Florida. Skycam images are aquired with a ZWO ASI178MC astrophotography camera controlled by the AllSky software.
The weather observation data for this site is sent via radio frequency from the Ambient Weather sensors to an Ecowitt GW1000 Wi-Fi gateway, which then forwards the data to a program called WeeWX. WeeWX is running on a Raspberry Pi 3 computer that generates all of the HTML for the pages on this site, sends all the data streams that provide live updates for the site, and also archives the data to a historical database.
The weather station provides the following readings:
- Temperature
- Humidity
- Wind speed
- Wind direction
- Rainfall
- UV (more info here)
- Solar radiation (more info here)
- Barometric pressure
- Lightning strikes (number and distance from sensor)
The rest of the observations on this website are done via software calculations and quality control checks which ensure the data is valid.
All weather observations are also posted to the following websites:
- KFLPERRY15 on Weather Underground
- KFLPERRY15 on PWS Weather
Software used:
- weewx weather station software
- HighCharts for the various charts on the website
- The Belchertown skin theme built for weewx
- MQTT as the broker for instant data transfer from weather station to website
- Thomas Jacquin's AllSky software for aquiring skycam images and creating star trail, timelapse, and keogram media
